“Christmas in Uzhgorod” will take place in January

In Uzhgorod Press Club, there was a press conference of the organizers of the festival "Christmas in Uzhgorod" to be held in Uzhgorod from 6 to 9 of January.

"Christmas here is usually a home holiday. We would like to make this holiday bigger, invite more people – Victoria Slyusarenko one of organizers of the festival said. – There will be traditional Christmas carols, nativity scenes. At the end of the festival – on the 7-8 of January – on Teatralna Square, we will determine the winners among the best groups that will participate in the festival. There will also be the gala concert in the Transcarpathian Regional Music and Drama Theater." During the event, they also plan to present Transcarpathian gastronomy.

Denys Sukhotin, a representative of the organizational group noted that many cultures are combined in Transcarpathia, and they want to show the features of each of them during the festival. "Christmas in Uzhgorod" will be very colorful. We invite all residents to join" – Denys Sukhotin said.

Carolers will march the city in four directions: 01.06.2016 from 20.00 – caroling on the defined route (Novy neighbourhood – Teatralna Sq.).

07.01.2016 from 12.00 – caroling on the defined route (Shakhta – Teatralna Sq.) 
The gathering is on Teatralna Sq., the winner of the day will be determined at 21.00.

08.01.2016 from 12.00 – caroling on the defined route (Dravtsi neighborhood – Teatralna Sq, and the village of Onokivtsi – Teatralna Sq.) 
The gathering is on Teatralna Sq., the winner of the two days will be determined at 18.00.

09.01.2016 at 17.00 – a gala concert in the Transcarpathian Regional Philharmonic. 
Tetyana Kress, a representative of the organizational group said: "Christmas is the holiday of kindness, we would like this festival to unite the townspeople. This holiday implies the participation of ordinary citizens. Any citizen can gather a group of carolers team and take part in the festival."

Another goal of the festival is to raise the cultural level of the Transcarpathian who are not familiar with the customs and traditions of the region. The organizers plan to involve 20 groups, there will even be a group from Luhansk region (the city of Staropilsk). Subsequently, they plan to expand the geography of the "Christmas in Uzhgorod" to other regions and make a kind of exchange of carolers.
