Chop customs officials confiscated 13500 euro from Russia citizen

The Russia citizen, returning by train from Slovakia, tried to move through the Ukrainian-Slovak border undeclared currency in the amount of 13,500 euro. During the implementation of customs control in the wagon compartment of train ‘Bratislava-Moscow’ inspector notice handbag which belonged to 56-year old Russia citizen. Customs officer asked the woman to open the bag in which he revealed five envelopes of previously undeclared neither orally or in written form significant amount of currency. Banknotes were carefully arranged in three envelopes. In the first was 1000 euro in the second 2500 euro and 800 in the third. The Russia citizen for some reason decided not to declare money, as it involves customs legislation.

According to the paragraph 2.2 of the National Bank of Ukraine Board Regulation from 27.05.2008, № 148 ‘On the movement of cash and bank metals through the customs border of Ukraine’ – the individual has the right to import into Ukraine and export from Ukraine cash in an amount which does not exceed the equivalent of 10 000 euro on condition of the written declaration to the customs authority. At the moment of customs border of Ukraine crossing the Russian women did not have any documents that could prove the taking cash from bank accounts (financial institutions) in accordance with P.2.4 of the aforementioned NBU.

These actions are signs of customs regulations violation under Art. 472 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. Undeclared 13,500 euro, according to the NBU exchange rate is 135 520 hryvnia, were removed – informed Victoria Senhetovska, press secretary of Chop customs office.
