Chop customs officers prevented another fraud with foreign car at the border

Another fraud with false letter of trust and smuggling of a brand new "BMW X1" was prevented by Chop customs officers at the checkpoint "Vylok" on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border.
The violator was a 34-year-old Bulgarian citizen who tried to import to Ukraine a car "BMW X1" manufactured in 2012 by using a simplified customs control – the "green corridor" – and giving inspectors fake documents.  While checking the letter of trust for the car, the customs officials had doubts about the right to drive this car with the Czech registration plate, which was owned by a company.
Therefore Chop Customs sent a request to the foreign company to confirm or deny the issuance of this letter of trust.
Yesterday (27.11.12) they received the official response from the head of the firm, which stated that the letter of trust had not been issued to the Bulgarian citizen. In addition, the signature on the letter did not belong to their general manager, that is it was fake. That car had been provided for use to another client under other documents.
In his explanation the Bulgarian driver said that he received the documents on the brand new foreign car from his friend in Prague. He did not personally participated in the drawing out of the letter of trust, just provided copies of his documents.
Therefore, for the submission of false information regarding the letter of trust that have not been issued by the owner of the car and that was used for illegal transportation of the vehicle across the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, the protocol on violation of customs regulations under Part 1 of Art.483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine was written against the foreign citizen.  "BMW X1", worth over 360 thousand hryvnias, which has ran only 2.6 thousand km, was seized until the decision of the court.
