On May 16-19, a literary festival to honor the prominent Ukrainian writer, public figure, winner of the Shevchenko Prize, the author of the script for the film "The Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" Ivan Chendey will be held in Uzhgorod for the first time.
"CHENDEY-FEST 2019" will be the first festival which is not funded by the government. The organizer of the festival is the International Charitable Foundation named after Ivan Chendey.
This year’s festival will last for four days.
It will begin on Thursday, May 16, at 5:00 pm, in the Transcarpathian Regional Universal Scientific Library with the creative meeting with the jury members of the Ivan Chendey All-Ukrainian Small Prose Literary Contest – Ukrainian journalists, writers, researchers Halyna Plachinda, Pavlo Volvach, Sidor Kiral, Oleksandr Havrosh. During the evening, the premiere of the documentary "Ivan Chendey’s Yasenova" (directed by Vyacheslav Bihun) will take place.
On Friday, May 17, at 1:00 pm, the awarding ceremony of the Ivan Chendey All-Ukrainian Contest in the nomination "Small Prose" and "Chendey Studies" will be held in the writer’s estate.
The next day, the participants and guests of the festival will go to the Shevchenko winner’s home – the mountain village of Dubove in Tyachiv district, which is located in the picturesque valley of the Teresva River. On Sunday, there will be a trip to the Mount Yasenova featured in many works of the writer. A memorial sign will be installed there.
