Changes in public initiative projects in Uzhgorod

The results of the implementation of the public initiative (public budget) projects in this year, as well as changes and prospects for 2018 were presented today to journalists and the public at the Uzhgorod City Council.
The Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv said that recently deputies had voted to continue the practice of the public initiative for 2018 and increased the maximum amounts for so-called large projects to half a million. "The total amount for implementing initiatives of Uzhgorod residents remains the same as this year – 3.5 million hryvnias, but if there are interesting proposals, next year we will review the decision and increase the financing," – the mayor assured.
The Deputy Mayor Igor Fartushok reminded that the public budget had been introduced at the end of 2016; in February 2017, they selected the projects that were supported by the majority of the city residents by voting, and the active work on their implementation began in May.

Last week, November 16, the City Council adopted the decision on new "Provisions on the budget for public initiatives". How is the document different from that which has been regulating the public budget this year? Thus, UAH 3.5 million provided for the financing of projects in the next year is distributed as follows: 25% for small projects (100-300 thousand hryvnias), 75% for large projects (301-500 thousand hryvnias). Written registration of projects was abolished, and electronic one has been introduced. The time for submission of projects was increased: up to two months, the submission of projects to the public initiative budget 2018 starts on December 1, 2017 and ends on February 1, 2018. You can vote for projects online and personally at the Center for Provision of Administrative Services of Uzhgorod City Council. The results of voting are determined by vote counting in online mode through the e-service "Public Project". The rating of projects forms and defines the list of those recommended for financing from the public initiative budget.
