The situation with public transport in Uzhgorod is quite tense. Almost every day, drivers of minibuses become anti-heroes of social networks and media publications, the 0312.ua writes.
In particular, one of the recent scandals was the incident, when a driver pushed a child out of the bus and closed the door to a woman, who had paid the fare.
After this news, there was a heated discussion among Uzhgorod residents about who was right in this situation.
The citizens divided into two camps: some think that the driver of the bus did the right thing, because the child had no student card; others say that the driver did wrong because students should ride for free
Recently, the NGO "Association of Public Carriers of Uzhgorod" appealed to the mayor of Uzhgorod asking to cancel the free transportation of schoolchildren in the city public transport.
"The abolition of the decision of the City Council on free transportation of schoolchildren will make it impossible to abuse the benefit. Therefore, it will reduce the social tension in the city and will allow to ensure better transportation of passengers, especially during peak hours," – the statement reads.
