Border guards found a cache with cigarettes in a Transcarpathian’s car

Today, at 01:00 am, border guards of the "Tisa" department of the Chop detachment prevented an attempt of cigarette smuggling from Ukraine to Hungary. The contraband cigarettes were found at the checkpoint "Tisa", during a joint inspection of a car Toyota registered in Hungary.

While inspecting the vehicle driven by a 38-year-old resident of Transcarpathia, law enforcement officers noticed changes in the design features of the car. It was sent for an in-depth inspection, during which a cache was found between the cabin and the engine compartment. By attaching additional metal elements to the car parts, the offender made a hollow space where he placed 319 packs of cigarettes of different brands.

In accordance with the law, the car "Toyota" valued at 77987 thousand hryvnias and the cigarettes found in it worth more than 10 thousand hryvnias were seized by the competent authorities.
