A broken barrier at the checkpoint, punctured tires and broken bumper of a minibus, chase, which ended with detention of the offender – those are the consequences of a yesterday’s failed breakout that a Polish citizen tried to commit at the checkpoint "Tisa".
The attempt to escape from border guards failed – officers of the Chop border guard detachment worked excellently, quickly detaining the offender.
As it turned out, the driver of a "Ford", moving towards the entrance for customs control, did not stop and continued to move toward the rear barrier. To stop the offender, the command "Barrier-East" was given and the border patrol used special means to make the vehicle stop. However, this did not stop the offender. The car, moving at a high speed, overcame the means of forced stopping resulting in punctures of two wheels, knocked down the gate and continued to move towards the village of Solomonove. Then, the situation was developing like in a real action movie. Regular forces were engaged to pursuit the offender, all the roads were blocked and, as a result, in a few minutes, the car was found near the village of Solomonovo, and later, border guards detained the persistent uninvited "guest".
To check the van "Ford" for being listed as stolen with the Interpol General Secretariat, the request was sent to the sector of the Ukrainian Interpol Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region. Currently, they are expecting for a response.
