Border guards at the checkpoint “Uzhgorod” caught two car swindlers (PHOTOS)

Two illegal deals with an attempt to illegally import vehicles to Ukraine were prevented by border guards together with customs officers at the checkpoint "Uzhgorod" on the Ukrainian-Slovak border.

In the first case, border guards had suspicions about a minibus "Volkswagen" with Czech license plates, according to the registration documents, made in 2005, driven by our countryman. In the course of the in-depth inspection, the inspectors found signs of a forged identification number of its body. The expert, who was engaged in the car inspection, confirmed that the original VIN-code had been removed and another one had been applied in its place. Also, the true year made of the car was found out – 2009.  The car, which in the secondary market of Ukraine is worth about $ 25,000, was confiscated, its value is currently being established.

In the other case, border guards found a forged power of attorney for operation of an "Audi" with Slovak lisence plates (1999 year of manufacture), which had been presented by our compatriot.  The notary’s office specified in the said power of attorney answered to the request that that document was invalid. The vehicle was confiscated, its value is being established.
