The first day of May was marked by the peak of lilac and wisteria blooming in Uzhgorod – these plants took on the role of floral fashion trendsetters in the city. White, purple, burgundy, amethyst flowers have surrounded our homes and streets.
While lilacs began to bloom in the city above Uzh at about the same time, the gentle-purple wisteria inflorescences appeared in early April. The wisteria likes direct sunlight, which "awakened" the first flowers. And the plants that grow in the shade, only now have formed a lush tent over our porches, weaved themselves into fences, erected arches in parks.
The iris is adding blue to the flower ensemble.
Soon, the chestnut, whose cream candles are beginning to cover the majestic trees in all corners of the city, will be competing with the above mentioned flowers. The spring flower parade will traditionally be completed by the unique tulip tree, whose green-orange buds are very similar to tulips but grow on huge trees with maple-like leaves.
