The apostolic administrator of the Mukachevo Greek Catholic Church, Milan Shashik, started the annual meeting in the episcopal residence in Uzhgorod with a sad news: last week there was a fire in the monastery of the Franciscan Fathers (former kindergarten building) in the village of Nyzhniy Bystry in Khust district. It happened at night, when the monks were sleeping. Fire-fighters found the body of a 38-year-old monk. The cause of the fire is being established…

At the end of the meeting, they presented the journalistic Y. Terelya award, that was founded by the Mukachevo Greek-Catholic diocese a few years ago and is awarded to journalists every two years for covering the spiritual life of the region. Oksana Shtefanyo, journalist of the paper "Novyny Zakarpattya", received the diploma of the 1st degree laureate for a series of publications, in particular on the life of Greek Catholic Romanians in the village of Serednye Vodyane in Rakhiv, a report on the preservation of wooden churches in the villages of Sil, Vyshka, Kostryno and Uzhok in Velyky Berezny district now belonging to the UOC-MP, about professional church painters. The diplomas of the second and third degree were awarded to journalist Tetyana Literati for a series of historical publications and professor Serhiy Fedaka. Journalists Vasyl Horvat, Tetyana Leshko, Marina Aldon, Valentina Zhuk, Bohdana Klekner, Maryana Abel were awarded with the diocesan diploma of this prize. Diocesan diploma for many years of work in the magazine "Blagovisnyk" was presented to Myroslava Matso. The Uzhgorod Cathedral Choir under the direction of Fr. Svyatoslav Zadorozhny performed at the event.
