The Day of the Danube was celebrated in Transcarpathia. The event, organized by the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River, was aimed at informing and raising ecological awareness of citizens living in the basin of this river. It was held simultaneously in 14 countries.
In Transcarpathia, this festival has been held for the sixth time and become known as "Tisa – Danube’s younger sister". The venue of the festival this year was the village of Kvasovo in Beregovo district.
This year’s celebration was attended by several hundred children from all over Transcarpathia. The song competitions on environmental issues, contests of things made of different materials that can be found on river banks, kites competition, as well as letting catfish and carp into the river – all these events were organized for them.
