With the approaching New Year’s holiday, transport police take measures to detect, prevent and suppress violations of the established order of distribution of fireworks, to detect and remove from circulation counterfeit, expired, substandard fireworks which are dangerous to handle.
Typically, during the celebrations, the risk of accidents caused by poor quality pyrotechnics increases. Most of the poor quality fireworks are smuggled.
The police warn against buying fireworks with no clear instructions and no expiration date indicated. Otherwise, the holidays can turn into a disaster.
Accordance with applicable law, in the case of violation of the requirements, citizens shall bear administrative responsibility under Article 159 "Violation of rules of trade in the markets", Article 160 "Trade in undesignated areas", Article 164 "Violation of economic activities procedure", Article 195-6 "Violation of procedure for production, storage, transportation, marketing and use of fireworks."
Distributors of "fakes" shall be fined, products shall be confiscated. Law enforcement officials urge people to be vigilant, adhere to safety regulations and if possible avoid the use of fireworks – the PR Division of the Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine at Lviv railway reported.
