Yesterday, in the Schönborn park adjacent to the resort "Voyevodino" near the village of Turya Pasika, a monument to Austro-Hungarian emperor Franz Joseph was unveiled.
The organizers were waiting for the guests with umbrellas, as it was raining quite heavily. The event started with the tour of the Schönborn park conducted by tourism expert Fedir Shandor with… .Franz Joseph’s wife Sisi (Empress Elizabeth of Bavaria (the famous Sisi), who is still a symbol of feminine beauty and tenderness).
And later, at the monument, which was hidden under a white cloth, Fedir Shabdor told many interesting facts from the life and reign of the emperor. In particular, that he ruled for 68 years (!). During the Austrian revolution of 1848, his uncle abdicated, his father waived the rights of inheritance, and 18-year-old Franz Josef found himself at the reign of the multinational Habsburg monarchy. In Budapest, there is a bridge named in honor of the emperor. The consul of the Consulate General of Hungary in Uzhgorod Laszlo Vida said that this is an important event for the tourism appeal of Transcarpathia. He also promised that Hungary would be contributing and assisting in the development of tourism. The patron of the project Serhiy Moshak added that all that was for future generations.
Then, there was the unveiling ceremony, which was entrusted to the consul and the patron. Franz Joseph appeared before us in full-length, in hunter’s dress with a gun, and his dog next to him. After the photo session, a historical quest took place. The questions concerned the life and reign of the emperor. The most active were the journalists who received medallion made of white chocolate with a portrait of the emperor, magnet, and glasses featuring the park.
