Attention, drivers in Uzhgorod!

The press service of Uzhgorod City Council asks drivers on September 12, by 12.00 to remove parked cars from ​​S.Petofi Square, where the reconstruction of underground engineering networks and communications is to commence.

Volodymyr Babydorych, the director of the Municipal Economy Department of Uzhgorod City Council, during the conversation with journalists of local TV channels, said that it would be the first of the planned three stages of the work, and the second one is scheduled to begin in 2018.

"The duration of the stage I depends, basically, on what we will see when we open the networks. The networks are very old, until now they have been repaired only in the event of an accident. There are some maps, but there is no complete and clear picture for all – gas, sewage, water supply and other systems. The works will be carried out very carefully.

The project team was assisted by specialists of the municipal enterprise "Vodokanal of Uzhgorod", they will be supervising daily the performance of work by the contracting organization, that won the tender," – Volodymyr Babydorych stressed.

The total cost of all works is UAH 11 million 150 thousand, this year, UAH 3 million 440 is allocated for the first stage. During the stage II, they will perform improvement of the square, in particular, the roadway will be paved with cobblestones.

Recall that vehicular traffic on Petofi Square will be blocked from Mytrak street to L. Tolstoy street, the following changes in the organization of the traffic on the square will be put in place:

On Mukachivska street and Petofi Square (from Robocha street to L. Tolstoy street) – two-way traffic;

Stop for buses №3 was moved to the Uzhgorod Children’s Art School at S.Petofi sq., 20.

Stop for buses №1 and №2 will be moved to Mukachivska st., 46, near the shoe factory.
