Are entrepreneurs afraid to complain to prosecutors about corrupt officials?

Since the beginning of the year, only about a dozen businessmen have complained to the prosecutors in Transcarpathian region about extortion by police or regulatory agencies.

This was announced today by the prosecutor Volodymyr Korban at his briefing on combating corruption

By the way, in cases of bribery both parties are responsible – the one who receives and the one who gives "undue benefit", as determined by law. The one who offers a bribe can be released from the liability if they turn to the police.

As for the small number of complaints – no more than ten and by the "hot line" – the prosecutors said that they do not understand why this happens. And they advise entrepreneurs to be more active – they promise to help and punish corrupt officials.

By the way, this year, in Transcarpathia not a single bribe taker has been imprisoned – "real punishment" has not been applied because of extenuating circumstances, such as an admission of guilt.

In general, since the beginning of the year, 60 reports of administrative corruption offenses have been drawn up and submitted to court in the region. Among them, 10 are for receiving undue benefit, and 1 is for the provision thereof.
