Another scam of Uzhgorod authorities (PHOTOS)

Plucked locks, broken doors, pile of trash in the mud… That’s how once neat tasting rooms of Uzhgorod have been looking like for three weeks now. At least that’s how long, according to local residents, they have been seeing several cellars on Olbracht street open and vandalized.

Their history goes back at least to the 17th century… However, it is not known exactly when they appeared there. It is known that before the First World War, there were 60 such well furnished cellars. Another 30 were where Sobranetska street is now.

And while people still care about the "Owl Nest", the cellars in andesitic rocks of the Castle Hill opposite the Botanical Garden of Uzhgorod are in decline.

This architectural heritage was given in not too " clean" private hands already in the years of independence. For example, due to some shady deal of the city government, 600 sq. m. of this heritage was removed from the municipal ownership of the city. As a result, the community lost UAH 2 million worth of property.

"The preliminary inquiry continues – Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor reported. – The said offense is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 5 years with disqualification to hold certain positions for up to 3 years."

Of course, they can not yet disclose any names and say when the case will be sent to court…

Sadly, but because of another scam of the city officials, the descendants may not even know about the existence of the wine cellars on Olbracht street. Because, every day they are becoming more like an abandoned sewage!
