Prosecutors of Uzhgorod supported state prosecution in court trial against a 27-year-old female resident of Uzhgorod, who had acquired and possessed a particularly dangerous drug – cannabis. During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that in March, in the vicinity of railway tracks on Lavrischev street, the defendant had found a roll of paper, containing a dry, crushed substance that looked like cannabis "marijuana." She kept it for her own use. However, soon the police officers stopped the accused, who were smoking a cigarette in a public place. She voluntarily gave the police officers the drugs. According to expert opinion, this substance was a particularly dangerous drug – cannabis.

Under these circumstances, the 27-year resident of Uzhgorod was charged with committing a crime under Part 1 of Art. 309 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal acquisition and possession of narcotics without intent to sell. The defendant sincerely repented of the crime, which was the mitigating circumstance of the penalty.
