"Attention! Mariupol on the edge…!"This is the title of the exhibition of two artists who live and wrote in this city in southeastern Ukraine.
In an attempt to convey the feelings of the residents of the frontline zone, their "look from inside", throughout the year they have visited a lot of places that have changed since the beginning of hostilities.
Olena Ukraintseva – Mariupol resident, student of Kharkiv Academy of Design and Arts – and Anna Torkayenko – teacher and artist from Donetsk, who has been living and working in Mariupol for more than a year – will present their works.
All works presented at the exhibition were taken from life. To create them, Olena and Anna visited the roadblocks, military units, talked with people, painted portraits of soldiers, because many people wanted to send their families some gifts. While working, they plunged into the life of a military settlement.
This is not a photo spread. This is an artistic interpretation of reality based on what they saw, personal meetings with residents of the city and the soldiers who are on the front line, an attempt to convey their emotions, expectations, hopes, characters.
This is the exhibition about the city. The city that for a year has been on the verge year war and peace, quiet life and war.
"Look at life of Mariupol through our eyes" – the artists call.
In Uzhgorod, the works will be exhibited in the Museum of Folk Architecture and Life. The exhibition opens on September 11.
