An ex-convict ratted on his bribe-taking inspector to the police. The latter may now be imprisoned for 5 to 10 years with confiscation

A resident of Chop reported to the police that a 29-year-old city inspector of the city and district deaprtment of the penal inspectorate in Uzhgorod district was demanding a bribe for releasing him from mandatory registration in the penal inspectorate, while being on seasonal work outside Transcarpathian region for a term of 4 months.

The inspector, being at home, received the agreed bribe in the amount of 2,200 UAH and then was immediately caught at the scene of the crime by the police. Prosecutor’s office ensured control over the pretrial investigation.

Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine st.368 – bribery on a large scale or committed by an official who holds a responsible position, or by a group of persons upon their prior conspiracy, or repeated, or combined with extortion – 
punishable by imprisonment for a term of five to ten 
years, with disqualification to hold specified offices or to engage in 
certain activities for a term up to three years and confiscation of property
