For the first time in the history, the Cup of Ukraine in Rhythmic Gymnastics in memory of Honored Coach of Ukraine Valentina Saveliyivna Zinchenko will be held in Transcarpathia. The competitions will take place 19 to 22 February. It is planned that about 300 athletes will participate in the tournament, and generally approximately 500 guests will come to Uzhgorod.
"We have the great honor to host the competition of such a high level – Valentina Plavayko, the head of the Transcarpathian Gymnastics Sports Club, which is organizing the competition, says. – The fact that Uzhgorod was selected shows some confidence in us by the Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics of Ukraine and its chairman, Hero of Ukraine Albina Dyeryuhina. However, this is a very big responsibility, because we need to organize the infrastructure, we need experience and reliable partners." According to Ms. Valentina, our city received the right to host the tournament, in fact, as an advance – in order to popularize this sport in Transcarpathia, to show the kids what they should strive for.
The tournament is a traditional competition, one of the most prestigious in Ukraine. It takes place in different cities for promoting the sport in regions. Last year it was held in Kharkiv. "Albina Dyeryuhina always tries to support regions where this sport is developing. We received this right, because we started showing good results, and our children are participating in national competitions," – Mrs. Valentina said.
