Airport “Uzhgorod” will resume operations by the end of the year, – Poroshenko

International Airport "Uzhgorod" on the border with Slovakia will be launched by the end of 2018.

This was stated by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko at a joint press conference with Slovak president Andrzej Kiska, the Censor reported citing the Interfax-Ukraine.

"We raised the issue of the speedy launch of the International Airport "Uzhgorod"… I set the task to have the first flight between Uzhgorod and Kyiv by the end of this year", – Poroshenko said.

The President also said that the procedures for obtaining international legal acts would be accelerated, in the near future they will be registered in the EU.

The President thanked his Slovak colleague who promised to help accelerate the obtaining of the necessary documents on the Slovak part.

In turn, Kiska said that the issue of the Uzhgorod airport opening was of paramount importance, since the Kyiv-Uzhgorod service was of great importance for Slovakia.

Recall that in 2016, Ukraine and Slovakia agreed to introduce a special regime for air navigation in the Uzhgorod airport. According to it, flights to this airport will be carried out according to the rules of visual flights. It will be in force until the signing of a new intergovernmental agreement.
