Advertising fence at the intersection of Mytna and Sobranetska in Uzhgorod was legalized for 5 years

Today, October 3, the meeting of the executive committee of Uzhgorod City Council was held. Among more than 20 issues, the most controversial was the draft decision on the renewal and granting permits for outdoor advertising.
At the last meeting this project already was considered, but then members did not vote for him, as members of the executive committee in opposition to the mayor of Uzhgorod Victor Pogorelov opposed several points, particularly for permission to mount a fence with 13 billboards at the intersection of Mytna and Sobranetska, as well as the prolongation of the agreement with the owner of eight advertisements on the walls of riverbank on both sides of the pedestrian bridge.
Today, the mayor of the regional center in the absence of most opposition members of the executive committee took advantage and again included this project into the agenda. Not having given any opportunity to speak about this, Victor Pogorelov immediately put the decision to the vote. When member of the executive committee Moschak Margaryta said that she wanted first to discuss the decision, the mayor snapped: "There is nothing to discuss, I have put this project to vote, so vote." 10 members of the executive committee voted "for", probably not even realizing what they had voted for.
After the decision had been adopted, Margaryta Moschak was finally given a chance to speak.
She said that she wanted that journalists and other members of the executive committee knew that the prologation of agreements for the placement of billboards in the city center, on the banks of Uzh, and at the intersection of Mytna and Sobranetska had just been agreed. "I want everyone to see: promises of Mayor to the NGOs that advocate the creation of better appearance of Uzhgorod were lies" – said Ms. Moschak.
