Abandoned cars with EU registration are being stolen from the “car cemetery” in a Slovak village (PHOTOS)

In the Slovak village of Ubl’a, all free lots are taken by cars belonging to Ukrainian owners.

This situation has arisen due to the fact that Ukraine banned entry for cars with foreign registration in the transit mode. 

Slovaks say that three hundred cars parked around the village in courtyards and in gardens were left there by Ukrainians who could not return to Ukraine because of the new customs law. They even tried to solve the problem at the government level.

– We saw a big problem in the village of Ubl’a, where a cemetery for the cars left by Ukrainians has formed, – the Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini said. And he promised to take action. However, there has been none yet.

But now, unknown people have begun to disassemble the abandoned cars for parts – from wheels to rearview mirrors. Some cars have just disappeared and Ukrainian owners reported it to the police.

"At present, in the village of Ubl’a, there have been two thefts of cars belonging to the citizens of Ukraine," – Jana Ligdajanova, the spokeswoman for the police, said.

Instead, the local Slovaks are not happy: they say that the Ukrainian cars bother them. "These cars are parked on our territory, which belongs to us, not to Ukrainians," – one of the local drivers said.
