A Ukrainian lost his “VOLKSWAGEN CARAVELLE” because of manipulations with a double bottom

Hidden cigarettes were found during an in-depth inspection of a van "VOLKSWAGEN CARAVELLE" at the checkpoint "Maly Berezny" of the Transcarpathian customs office.

The Ukrainian planned to cross the border with Slovakia carrying 1,658 packs of "MARLBORO" made in Ukraine with excise stamps.

Arriving at the checkpoint, the citizen reported that he was not transporting any goods and items hidden from customs control. However, considering the risks and sending the minibus for in-depth inspection, the customs officers found a double bottom. Access to the hidden tobacco products became possible only after the dismantling of the minibus floor.

These actions of the Ukrainian have signs of violation of customs rules provided under Part 1 of Art. 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.

Under the law, the "VOLKSWAGEN CARAVELLE" and the cigarettes were seized.
