Transcarpathian Ivan Myron has been awarded a lifetime presidential stipend.
The relevant decree was signed by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Thus, the Presidential Decree №291 / 2020 "On awarding lifelong state stipends to citizens of Ukraine, who have been persecuted for human rights activities" provides for lifelong state stipends to citizens of Ukraine who have been persecuted for human rights activities.
One of them is Ivan Myron from Transcarpathia.
Ivan Myron was born on March 9, 1929, in the village of Rosishka, Rakhiv district, and still lives there.
He worked as a primary school teacher.
He was an active participant in the anti-Soviet movement.
In the autumn of 1950 he refused to serve in the army of the "occupiers".
In May 1951, he was betrayed and arrested. The investigation was conducted in Uzhgorod prison. In January 1952, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison: Kharkiv, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Norilsk. In 1953, he took part in the uprising of political prisoners in Norilsk.
In the spring of 1976 he was released.
Rehabilitated on July 18, 2019.
