A Transcarpathian lost his Mercedes because of a smuggling attempt (PHOTOS)

On February 25, 2018, an attempt to illegally export tobacco products from Ukraine was stopped in the customs control zone of the customs post "Tisa" of the Transcarpathian Customs. Our compatriot tried to carry the cigarettes to the Czech Republic in a car MERCEDES-BENZ.

The citizen chose "green corridor" for customs clearance and, during oral questioning, denied having any goods, including those subject to declaration, and said that he was not carrying any goods hidden from customs control.

Based on signs of presence of specially manufactured caches in the vehicle, customs officers decided to conduct an in-depth customs inspection of the vehicle. As a result, they found 180 packs of cigarettes hidden from the customs control in the fuel tank of the vehicle. All the found the cigarettes were domestically produced, with excise stamps of Ukraine, brands "Chesterfield" and "Marlboro". The value of the found cigarettes is more than 5640 hryvnias.

Thus, the citizen of Ukraine committed acts aimed at moving goods across the customs border of Ukraine concealed from customs control, ie using specially manufactured caches.

These actions have signs of violation of customs rules under Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. Based on Article 511 of the Customs Code of Ukraine, the goods, that are direct objects of the violation of customs regulations – the tobacco products, and the vehicle made in 2006 worth almost 325,000 UAH – were seized until the court decision.
