This mushroom is listed in the Red Book.
Oksana Pavlyuk shared a photo of her discovery in one of the Facebook groups.
"What kind of mushroom is this, anyone knows?" – the author of the FB post inquired.
FB users in the comments noted that it is the Lamb’s head mushroom.
In fact, the rare specimen is called "Sparassis crispa", it is listed in the Red Book of Ukraine as an endangered species. It is indeed commonly called "lamb mushroom" or "cabbage mushroom". The unusual mushroom found in Transcarpathia is edible.
The Red Book of Ukraine states that the habitat of the mushroom is Eurasia and North America. In Ukraine, it is extremely rare.
