The photo, which won the first place in the international photo competition National Geographic Traveler India on the topic of World Public Transport, was taken in 2018. Its author is Lviv artist Artur Abramov.
This photo was published on the first page of NatGeo and will be in the August issue of National Geographic Traveler India.
"The main goal of the project was to depict a variety of public transport from around the world. Public transport is a vital necessity for locals and is a way to capture the pulse of a new place for tourists. This is a scene from the train Mukachevo-Lviv that was somewhere in the Carpathian Mountains in 2018. In the photo, we can see the conductor selling tickets, and the passengers riding this train to return from the Carpathians. Passengers like comfort, they are eating and drinking there. Some passengers are reading their favorite books, and others are playing cards. Any confidentiality and personal boundaries are quickly erased," – the author of the photo writes.
Artur Abramov was the only Ukrainian among the 32 nominees for the award.
