A Mukachevo journalist wants to disprove myths about Uzhgorod

On Thursday, February 28, at 13.00 in Uzhgorod Press Club, there will be the presentation of the book by the Mukachevo researcher Oleksiy Filippov "50 new legends of Uzhgorod and Transcarpathia."

The book was published by the Uzhgorod publisher "Lira" and is a kind of sequel to the popular book "40 myths about Mukachevo," which was published in 2011 by the same publishing house and was presented in Uzhgorod Press Club.

In his new book the author has collected statements of Uzhgorod historians and Transcarpathian guides, which he has his own opinion about, and he will express it during the presentation. He believes that instead of bringing historical facts, evidence of which are stored in archives, modern professionals continue to use their own imagined stories.

In the book, the readers will be able to learn different views on such events and figures, as historic Transcarpathia, Mukachevo Castle, belonging of Transcarpathia to the State of Lev, Volost and German colonization, Uzhgorod, Prince Fedir Koryatovych, the Black Mountain and more.
