While patrolling in Mukachevo, a group of inspectors stopped a car driven by a previously convicted resident of Mukachevo. In addition to the lack of relevant documents and license plate on the car, the police officers found in the car a metal telescopic baton.
At noon, the police patrol stopped a car "Audi A6". In front of the car, the license plate was with numbers of the Slovak Republic and the back plate was lacking. This fact alerted the police.
When checking the vehicle, inspectors found out that the driver had no documents for the car. After the review of the interior, they noticed in the driver’s door a metal telescopic baton. As explained by the man, he knew that carrying it was illegal, but he kept it for self-defense.
This resident of Mukachevo has long been familiar to the police. He had repeatedly been held criminally liable.
The police seized the melee weapon and sent it to the Research Forensic Centre at the Office of the MIA for examination.
A criminal proceeding has been opened over this fact. This violation is punishable by the fine of up to 850 hryvnia, restriction of liberty for a term of 2 to 5 years, or imprisonment for up to three years.
