A 56-year-old resident of Ivano-Frankivsk region was returning from Hungary to Ukraine in a car CITROEN BERLINGO through the customs post "Tisa" of the Transcarpathian customs of the State Customs Service. During the customs and border control, he deliberately chose the "green corridor", thus declaring that he was not moving into the customs territory of Ukraine anything hidden and prohibited for import.
Based on the results of the analysis and risk assessment, it was decided to conduct an in-depth inspection of the car together with border guards. Using technical means (viewing mirror, screwdriver, lantern), in the niche under the driver’s seat, they found 65 packages of drugs, which were closed with a decorative plastic lid. The other 20 packages were hidden from customs control in the back pockets of the driver’s and passenger seats under the car seat covers.
Among the drugs: alfacalcidol, clozapine, acenocoumarol, mebendazole, dydrogesterone, estradiol and didogestorone, mitomycin and others. The man recognized these drugs as his property and explained that he had bought them abroad and was transporting them at the request of relatives, who needed them. Although the found drugs are not included in the list of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors that are prohibited for transportation across the border, a report on violation of customs rules under Article 483 Part 1 of the Customs Code of Ukraine was drawn up against the Ukrainian for hiding goods in structural cavities of the car for the purpose of their illegal transportation.
The 85 packages of medicines produced in Slovenia, the Netherlands, Hungary, Spain, Ireland, Italy and Slovakia require expert evaluation. But the foreign car (2010), which was used to transport hidden goods, estimated at almost UAH 170 thousand, was seized pending court decision.
