The European Investment Bank expressed its preliminary willingness to provide grant assistance for the preparation of a feasibility study for the construction of a new highway Lviv-Mukachevo-Uzhgorod with a branch to the Hungarian border. This was announced today, April 12, at the working meeting at the State Agency of Motor Roads of Ukraine, the Ukravtodor informed on its Facebook page.
This road will reduce the time of travel between Lviv and Mukachevo to 1 hour 30 minutes, compared with the current 3 hours 30 minutes.The new highway will be designed for a maximum speed of 130 km / h.
Oleksandr Kava, the Advisor to the Head of the State Agency of Motor Roads of Ukraine: "This corridor is very important for Ukraine, because the main export flow to the countries of South and South-Western Europe runs through it. In addition, the new road will also ensure a stable traffic to and from Transcarpathian region."
The road will be connected with the Hungarian motorway M3 through the checkpoint "Dyida" and the Slovak D1 through the checkpoint "Uzhgorod".
