A press conference of Oleksiy Umansky, who made the documentary "Kino" (accent on the first syllable), took place in Uzhgorod Press Club. This is kind of the sequel to the film "The sky, the mountains and the cinema" in which Oleksiy Umansky told about the films that were made in Transcarpathia.
"It all started when I read an article of Larysa Romanyuk about the movies filmed in Transcarpathia. I thought that it was very interesting topic that should be explored – Oleksiy Umansky comments. – I began researching, and so the film "The sky, the mountains and the cinema" was made – a film for us, residents of Uzhgorod, Transcarpathia, to show that we live in a place where people with cameras would come to make movies. We have mountains, rivers, nature, beautiful local scenery."
According to Oleksiy Umansky, people commented on the film, added interesting facts. And the author returned to the subject. "6 years have passed since the presentation of the first film, during this time I have learnt many new interesting facts that I wanted to share" – Oleksiy says. – In addition to films, there are mentions of the famous people who lived in Transcarpathia. For example, Bela Bartok, whose music was used by Stanley Kubrick in his films, gave his first concert in Vynogradiv."
In his film the author, according to him, debunks several myths. For example that Milos Forman (known American and Czech director) once lived in Mukachevo. "I went to the Czech Republic to the festival in Karlovy Vary. People, who knew him, said that he never lived in Mukachevo. I even asked some people, who knew his wife, to check it with her. They sent a request to her. She confirmed that the famous director has never lived in Mukachevo," – Oleksiy Umansky says. – The most recent fake, which I researched when I was at Siget, is that the frontman of the band "Gogol Bordello" Eugene Hutz moved to Svalyava after Chernobyl tragedy. I managed to get to the press conference with them. I was without a camera, but Russian journalists from the magazine "Maxim" helped to record a video with answers. Eugene Hutz has never lived in Svalyava.
Today, January 29, at 19.00, the presentation of the film will take place in the Puppet Theater "Bavka." The duration of the film is 1 hour 15 minutes.
