73 packages of cigarettes were found yesterday by operational officers of the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service together with border guards of the department "Dilove" of the Mukachevo Detachment and representatives of the SFS.
In the course of activities aimed at counteracting the illegal transportation of tobacco products across the border and verification of the information on alleged illegal activities at the border, a significant number of packages with tobacco products wrapped in black polyethylene was found. The cigarettes were in a forester’s house located near the border. Also, border guards detained an 18-year-old citizen of Ukraine who was guarding the house.
The offenders planned to take to neighboring Romania 36150 packs of cigarettes of different brands.
A report a crime under Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine was sent to the Main Office of the SFS in Transcarpathian region.
Currently, the tobacco products have been taken to the border guard unit. Subsequently, they will be handed over to officers of the SFS.
