58 Transcarpathian deputies demand to dismiss the government (Statement)

58 deputies of the Transcarpathian Regional Council appealed to the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych demanding to immediately dismiss the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine V. Zaharchenko and the government of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov.

"We, members of the Transcarpathian Regional Council, on behalf of the local communities of the region express our support for the Euromaidan and outrage about the brutal crackdown of peaceful assembly which happened in Kyiv, November 30, 2013.

We urge law enforcement officers not to obey criminal orders, not to commit any acts of violence against civilians and not to participate in attempts to crackdown peaceful protests.

We ask the President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych to immediately dismiss the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine V. Zaharchenko and the government of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov.

Representing the interests of the communities in the region, declaring their European aspirations, we are warning public authorities of rash actions against the people of Ukraine.

If force methods against the protesters citizens continue to be applied, we reserve the right to resort to civil disobedience actions and national warning strike.

We urge the European community to support the desire of the Ukrainian people and help them on the path to democracy and prosperity.

We, members of the Transcarpathian Regional Council urge all media representatives to impartially and unbiasedly cover the events taking place in Ukraine, not to mislead the society and not to ignore the violence and misconduct against the protest movement activists and civilians who support them.

Members of the Regional Council appeal to all local councils of the region to immediately hold sessions for consideration of the socio-political situation in Ukraine," – the statement of the deputies of the regional council says.
