Since November 1, at the border checkpoint "Sigetu Marmatiei", thet have conducted an experiment on restriction for transportation of certain amount of goods (food, tobacco, fuel and lubricants) from Ukraine to Romania by one person within seven days. As the "Zakarpatska Pravda" explained, every citizen shall declare the goods they import to the territory of Romania in writing, after that Romanian customs officers check them and the data from the declaration are made into a special database.
Any goods from the specified list of goods can be imported no more than once every seven days. If they find a violation on the transportation of the specified goods, the citizens will be brought to justice according to the Romanian legislation.
Citizens can go to Romania every day if the first time they have the list of goods indicated in the declaration, and on other days they have the right to carry other goods that are not covered in the list of those indicated in the declaration. If the citizens go to Romania on foot and do not carry the goods that are listed in the declaration they can inform customs officers about it and go through customs control out of turn. In this case the declaration shall not be filled.
Starting from 15.11.13, this innovation will be implemented in all the checkpoints on the Romanian-Ukrainian border.
