2641 Transcarpathians suffer from ARVI and influenza

According to the head of the epidemic monitoring and sanitary protection department of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service in Transcarpathian region Victoria Dordyay, during the 43rd calendar week of 2015, 2641 people have turned to health care institutions of the region about ARVI and influenza, the growth rate compared to the previous (42nd) week of 2015 amounted to 17.5%.

It should be noted that in comparison with the 43rd week of 2014, the incidence of ARVI among the population of the region is lower by 13.6%. The incidence of influenza and ARVI among the population of the region is 17.9 per 10,000 which is 25.1% below the epidemic threshold.

The trend towards growth and high levels of incidence of ARVI has been registered over the current week among residents of the city of Uzhgorod, the city of Mukachevo, Svalyava district. The lowest levels are recorded in Tyachiv and Rakhiv districts.

Among the total number of cases, 67.4% are children under 17, the highest level is recorded in the age group 5-14 years.

4.0% of all diseased people were taken to medical facilities, 84.0% of them are children.

Since the beginning of the epidemic season, 274 persons have been vaccinated. 115 of them are persons of the medical risk group, and 159 are persons of the epidemic risk group.

Experts of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service in the region continue to monitor the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections among the regional population and take active measures to increase public awareness on the prevention of respiratory infections.
