A memorial plaque to the deceased ATO Hero David Gamsakhurdia was unveiled in Uzhgorod (PHOTOS)

A memorial plaque was erected on the facade of the secondary school №12, which David graduated from, next to a memorial to another Hero, Vasyl Varha. The installation of the memorial plaque was initiated by the Prosvita Regional Society and the Ukrainian Association of Disabled ATO Veterans.
David’s mother Tetyana Gamsakhurdia, her son’s comrades-in-arms, friends and acquaintances, Uzhgorod mayor, the head of the education department Natalia Mukhomedyanova, students of the secondary school №12, clergymen came to the unveiling of the memorial plaque.

David Gamsakhurdia’s parents once fled the war-torn Georgia, and Transcarpathia became the family’s second home. David Gamsakhurdia served as a soldier of the 128th separate mountain assault Transcarpathian brigade. On September 16, 2016, he received multiple shrapnel wounds as a result of shelling of Ukrainian military positions near the Butivka-Donetsk mine. On October 8 of the same year, David died of his injuries at the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Clinical Hospital. On October 12, exactly 4 years ago, David Gamsakhurdia was buried on the Hill of Glory in Uzhgorod. He was posthumously awarded the Order "For Courage" of the III degree.
