Today, at the meeting of the executive committee of the Uzhgorod City Council, the Tisa River Basin Water Resources Management was granted permit to develop a feasibility study for a project to build a regulation facility on the Uzh River in Uzhgorod near the Bozdosh Park.
According to the decision, the developed feasibility study will need to be approved with the Department of Municipal Economy, the Department of City Planning and Architecture, the Department of Culture of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration and submitted to the City Council.
Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv noted that the documentation is required for the implementation of the FloodUZH project – "Joint measures to prevent natural disasters in the cross-border basin of the Uzh River" under the Cross-Border Cooperation Program of the European Neighborhood Instrument Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine 2014-2020.
The project started in November 2019, it is designed for 3 years. It provides for, among other things, the construction of a regulation structure on the Uzh River within Uzhgorod to flood the territory during low-water periods and protect the city from flooding.
