Illegal allocation of land in Uzhhorod: the prosecutor’s office has launched two proceedings

"One of the reports concerned the transfer of part of the yard with a playground near a multi-storey building at 122 Sobranetska Street to private ownership for individual housing development. It was a decision of the Uzhgorod City Council that approved the land management project for a land plot with an area of 0.0682 hectares in Universytetsky lane and transferred it to private ownership for the construction and maintenance of residential buildings, outbuildings and structures," – the spokeswoman said.

According to Kateryna Khyzhnyak, the prosecutor’s office believes that those actions are violation of Art. 39, 51, 83 of the Land Code of Ukraine, the Law of Ukraine "On regulation of urban planning activities", which may indicate abuse of office by employees of the Uzhgorod City Council.

Another case was recorded on Strilnychna, Vysoka and other streets. There, residents appealed to the Uzhgorod local prosecutor’s office with a report on the illegal privatization of several forest plots.

Proceedings over those two facts have been instituted under Part 1 of Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, ie abuse of office.
