Tragic carelessness: the number of drowned people has increased in Transcarpathia

To date, 22 people have drowned in Transcarpathian water bodies since the beginning of the year. Whereas during the same period last year there were 19 such cases. Each such fact is a lost life.

Although rescuers are constantly working to prevent accidents on water bodies, the number of drowned people is increasing almost every year. For example, in the past year, there were 29 cases.

Unfortunately, in the heat, when everyone rushes to the water, few people ask themselves questions: "Where is the safest spot to swim? Will anyone rescue me in case of an emergency?”. Also, nobody pays attention to the swimming prohibition signs. Most vacationers do not care about the condition of the shoreline and the bottom of the reservoir. And they really should in order to avoid possible accidents or even tragedies. The traditional reason is the human factor. In other words: the root cause of all problems is not only poor organization or unfavorable circumstances, but human behavior and carelessness. You can’t assign a personal rescuer to each person. According to statistics, the main causes of death among adults are swimming in a state of intoxication, swimming in strong currents and water temperature fluctuations. Oddly enough, 90 percent of the drowned people are people who could swim. So common sense must prevail over unnecessary self-confidence. And the main reason of the deaths of children is leaving of children without adult supervision. This is an incomplete list of things that leads to tragedies. And water never forgives negligence.

Given that the weekend is ahead, which means that the number of water recreation enthusiasts will increase, Transcarpathian rescuers are once again asking all citizens to observe safety measures, to take care of their own and their children’s lives.
