Yesterday, at about 5 pm, two foreigners asked an Uzhgorod woman for help. They asked the woman to help them get to the medical facility and said that they were not local and did not know the city. The woman agreed and took the men to the hospital. Near the medical institution, the men again asked the local woman to help them exchange currency. The woman again agreed to help the strangers.
Once at the victim’s place, the men stole 15,000 hryvnias and 700 US dollars and then fled.
The plan "Interception" was launched in Transcarpathia.
Around 6 pm, the thieves’ car passed the police post Nyzhni Vorota and headed for Lviv region. The patrol police of Lviv region received from the patrol police department of Transcarpathian region the description of the persons who are reasonably wanted for committing a robbery in the city of Uzhgorod.
The criminals were detained near Stryi, they were a 24-year-old and a 38-year-old citizens of one of the neighboring states. Not previously convicted.
An investigative team of the Uzhgorod police department and patrol police from Transcarpathia was called to the scene. The victim later identified the perpetrators.
Preliminary classification of the incident is under Art. 186 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code.
