Almost every day, Transcarpathian customs officers detect violations at the border related to failure to declare goods that are mostly transported for commercial purposes and require payment of the necessary customs duties.
So, last weekend, at the customs post "Tisa" of the Transcarpathian customs of the State Customs Service, reports were drawn up and alcoholic beverages, palm oil, perfumed water, magnesium products, etc. were seized. A 50-year-old woman from Rivne, who was crossing the Ukrainian-Hungarian border in a minibus as a passenger, tried to smuggle 46 bottles of Italian wine through the "red corridor", having indicated in the customs declaration only two suitcases with personal belongings. Two residents of Chernivtsi region, returning from Italy, also tried to transport 78 bottles of Italian champagne "MARTINI", which inspectors found among the travel bags in the luggage compartments of their vans. Inspectors drew up reports under Article 472 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. A 52-year-old man from Poltava, who was traveling from Italy as a passenger, declared only personal belongings for 5 seats in the minibus. During customs control, inspectors found 96 bottles (48 liters) of Ecuadorian palm oil, which he did not recognize as his property. In the explanation the man specified that he was transporting the specified goods at the request of an acquaintance to deliver them to his relatives in Poltava. A 55-year-old Chernivtsi resident failed to declare the perfumes that he was transporting at the request of a woman in Italy for delivery to her relatives in Kyiv. As a result of the inspection of the luggage compartment of his vehicle, customs officers found beauty products in 4 cardboard boxes. Namely, scented eau de toilette (perfume) packaged in 270 ml plastic bottles made in Peru, a total of 94 bottles (25.38 liters). The value of the seized goods is 58 thousand hryvnias. Another Ukrainian citizen, returning from Hungary, decided to cross the border through the "green corridor" and failed to declare the magnesium products that customs officers found in the trunk of the car. Those were 1087 pieces (243 kg) of magnesium anodes used in hot water storage tanks and boilers to prevent galvanic corrosion. On the Internet, the price of such goods reaches 2 thousand euros. Therefore, reports were drawn up against those violators under Article 472 of the Customs Code. The undeclared goods were confiscated pending court decisions.
