Mothers will receive baby boxes as soon as they are delivered – Uzhgorod City Council

Due to the change in the mechanisms for purchasing baby boxes at the state level, there have been temporary difficulties in obtaining them.

According to the Department of Labor and Social Welfare of Uzhgorod City Council, under the government’s decision, from 2020 the purchase of one-time in-kind assistance "baby box" is carried out by a centralized procurement organization at the expense of the state budget through e-procurement. Under the most favorable conditions, the first baby boxes purchased under the new procedure will reach the recipients in late June – early July 2020.

The procedure for providing a newborn child with a one-time in-kind assistance "baby box" at the expense of the state budget approved by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (March 3, 2020 № 172) stipulates that "baby box" shall be given at birth in the health care facility or at the newborn child’s place of residence / stay by social welfare units.

If on the day of discharge of your newborn child, there is no "baby box" in the health care institution, then those who live in Uzhgorod are recommended to contact the Department of Labor and Social Welfare of the City Council with an application. So far, the department has received 33 such applications.

"We want to assure you – all recipients will be provided with baby boxes after they have been delivered. The government is doing everything possible to minimize the inconvenience caused by the changes," – the Department of Labor and Social Welfare stated.
