The unique plant usually blossoms for two weeks.
The flowering period of the Judas tree, or the Cercis, has began in Uzhgorod. This tree belongs to the Fabaceae family.
The tree is unique because of its flowers that cover it completely, even the bark.
The Judas tree is blossoming on Krylov Street, in the park behind the Transcarpathian Regional Council building, and in the UzhNU Botanical Garden.
The plant loves heat and is sensitive to strong winds and temperature fluctuations, so the warm climate of Transcarpathia, and Uzhgorod in particular, is comfortable for it. While usually this tree has a bush shape and a height of about two meters, the cercis in Uzhgorod grows up to 3-4 meters high.
And you probably didn’t know it, but the buds of this tree are used to make spices. At least, according to the sources.
