Yesterday, March 3, a joint meeting on a large-scale campaign for forest reproduction was held in the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration.
The discussion was also attended by First Deputy Chief-Chief Forest Officer Igor Kotsur, in charge of holding of the campaign, the press secretary of the department Yulia Davidova, the head of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources Yuriy Shponak, the President of the Rotary Club Uzhgorod Mykola Berezhansky, the Director of the Resource Center for Sustainable Development of the UzhNU, Project Coordinator for the Transcarpathian Region "Greening of Ukraine" Hanna Melahanych, representatives of the public council and biologists, the Holos Karpat reported.
Transcarpathian region is the most forested in Ukraine, the forest area in Transcarpathian region is more than 52% of the total area of the region. Every year, foresters carry out campaigns for forest reproduction, but due to lack of awareness and in order to improve the communication of the forest industryrepresentatives with the public, promote the image of the forest industry and the profession of forester, raise public awareness of the importance and necessity of carrying out forest management activities, disseminate knowledge of forests and their significance in existance of lofe on the planet, it was decided to join forces and hold a large-scale campaign "Reproducing forests together".
The large-scale campaign on forest reproduction begins March 21, World Forest Day. The first afforestation activities will begin in the areas whose climate is most favorable – Uzhgorod district and the city of Uzhgorod, Perechyn, Mukachevo, Beregovo, Vynohradiv, Irshava and Khust districts. The campaign will continue throughout the month.

This year, it is planned to create new forests in the area of 2048 hectares with more than 5 million seedlings and saplings, the press service of the Transcarpathian Regional Forestry and Hunting Range Administration reported.
