As soon as you enter the hall of the historical and cultural complex "Owl’s Nest" you plunge into the magical New Year’s atmosphere.
Brightly decorated Christmas trees, shimmering multicolored lights, charming gingerbread express, toy Christmas decorations and – gingerbread. There are many diferent kinds: with the symbol of the coming year – a mouse, snowmen, snowflakes, Santa Claus, whole gingerbread houses and many other varieties. Also here you can buy handmade souvenirs, honey, toys, hot mulled wine and coffee, cakes.
The festival, which is being held for the third time with the support of the Uzhgorod City Council, is aimed at supporting domestic producers. According to the organizers, it is an exhibition and sale of Christmas gingerbread houses from professional and amateur confectioners who bake gingerbread at home. They want to set a record this year – the largest number of gingerbread houses in one place, they hope to have more than a hundred.
Volunteer organizations "Movement to Support Transcarpathian Soldiers", "Barbos" participate in the festival, Uzhgorod Plast also joined, and also
– initiative students of 1-D form of Uzhgorod Secondary School №5 with in-depth study of foreign languages together with their parents.
This festival is also charitable – every year 10% of the proceeds from the sale of houses and the proceeds from the charity auction held on the last day of the festival go to sick children. This year, it will be for a girl from Uzhgorod – three-year-old Maria who is currently undergoing medical treatment in Italy.
