Law enforcers opened an investigation into alleged bribery of voters in Chop. The incident was registered in the URPI, the pre-trial investigation is ongoing
Transcarpathian police continue to monitor the situation in the region. With regard to the election process, monitoring of the situation is being carried out continuously. All the reports are being checked. In particular, 5 criminal proceedings have been initiated since the beginning of the election campaign. The latest one was registered in the URPI yesterday, July 20th.
Representatives of one of the public organizations, which is an official observer at the extraordinary parliamentary elections, yesterday reported to the police about alleged bribery of voters. The applicant stated that around 1:00 pm, while conducting a sociological poll of citizens in Chop, he was approached by an unknown person, who gave the observer lists with the names of the persons. The man said that those were the names of local residents, who, according to him, were promised money if they vote for a certain candidate to the people’s deputies.
Law enforcement officers were immediately sent to the scene.
The police initiated a criminal proceeding under Part 2 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Bribery of voters). The case is currently undergoing a pre-trial investigation, during which all the circumstances will be found out and legal assessment will be made.
