Key positions of Uzhgorod – the proposals of the authorities (PHOTOS)

Discussion of the project for the reconstruction of Teatralna Square and Yevhen Fentsyk Park was held yesterday in the Uzhgorod City Council.
The developers suggest to restore the fountain on Teatralna Square, that used to be there during the Soviet period. However, they see it differently – without a large bowl, that is, the so-called pedestrian fountain.

Pavement. It is proposed to replace the old tiles on Teatralna Square with natural, granite ones.

Planting. The number of green areas, grass patches in Fentsyk Park will increase. The existing trees will remain, but since they grow in limited spaces and there are no other green plantations in the park, it is suggested to add more greenery.

Lighting. New illumination will be arranged: self-standing lights and bracket-mounted lights on the buildings. The designers suggest several types of fixtures to choose from: both modern and retro-style.

Benches. They will be wooden, those around the flowerbeds – on concrete base, those that are actually on the square – on a metal frame. In general, the number of seats should increase.

Stormwater drains. The developers designed their appearance based on the pattern of old drains. They will be placed roughly at the same spots where they are now, but some more will be added where it is needed.

Uzhgorod residents present in the hall suggested their ideas for reconstruction. Thus, in particular, they suggested to install a drinking water fountain in Fentsyk Park, to provide public toilet, to make the stairs on both sides of the embankment more comfortable, to install ramps there for people with special needs, etc. During two weeks, people will be able to submit their proposals for the project by email to the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning architect@rada-uzhgorod.gov.ua and to the Department of Municipal Economy, which is the commisioner of the project dmg@rada-uzhgorod.gov.ua
The project was posted on the official site of the Uzhgorod City Council, on the pages of the City Council and the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning on Facebook.
